My Qualifications
About Me
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t dance. I started dancing aged three and I have never stopped.
Dancing from childhood
Throughout my childhood, I belonged to several different dance schools, performing on stages across the South West. In my late-teens, I danced with a local cabaret group, with whom I went on to win a national dance competition. As an adult I followed a career in science, working in a hospital pathology department initially and later for a research company, but I knew it was dance that I really wanted to do. When my children were young, I worked as a registered childminder from my village on the Dorset-Wiltshire border. I went on to work at the local sports centre, coaching and taking up new coaching and training opportunities. These jobs gave me the invaluable experience of working and interacting with different children and adults that help me do my job today.
Tisbury Youth Dance Group
In 2001, I started Tisbury Youth Dance Group (TYDG) in my village. From a small group of children in the beginning, the business has grown into something I could never have imagined, and I have had the pleasure of watching the children from the group’s beginnings grow up and improve, some even moving into a dance career. TYDG has been one of the most thrilling and rewarding rides of my life, and I still enjoy every moment of it. I enjoy watching children and adults of all ages attending my classes, slowly blossom and improve on their abilities and confidence beyond what they thought possible.
Over twenty years later TYDG is still going strong, and I have branched out into Creative Dance Parties, schools, choreographing for the local junior amateur dramatics group and teaching the local Maypole dancing display team. I am adaptable and enjoy taking on new challenges.
Always looking to improve
I have an impressive list of qualifications in a wide range of different aspects of fitness and well-being, which I am committed to continuing to grow.
With every new course I complete, I further understand the human body and learn new and varied ways to keep it healthy and strong.
