Creative Yoga
Drawing inspiration from yoga, this activity allows children to rebalance by escaping from a hectic high-tech world and appreciate stillness, calm and quiet whilst improving concentration and flexibility.
This all helps children to unlock their inner potential and powers.
Suitable for preschool through to teenagers.

Focus, Breath and Warm Up
Sessions start with simple breathing exercises to clear the mind, bring calm to the body and to develop concentration and attentiveness. There is then a fun game or warm up and mobilisation to prepare the children’s bodies for the class and raise their heart rates safely.
Hello Sunshine? Or Sun Salutations
Sun Salutations are presented in an age appropriate way to the children or teenagers resulting in a fun way to greet and appreciate the sun and natural world whilst stretching and energising the whole body.
Making Shapes and Storytelling
The children then learn and practice asanas. Depending on the age of the children they will learn them as animal postures or a flow of yoga poses. The asanas were derived thousands of years ago, by yoga gurus who observed the natural world and took inspiration from it. By practicing the asanas, yoga will improve flexibility, vitality and health as the organs are activated and blood flow is increased to specific areas of the body. Children also benefit from increased balance, coordination and proprioception as well as improving self confidence, and mental health and well being.
As well as practicing traditional asanas the children can enjoy making up their own, and then using the postures they've practiced to tell creative stories or poems working singularly, in pairs or as a group.
Quiet time
After a mindfulness activity the sessions end quietly with awareness of breathing exercises.
